December's Swap

The Theme for December's swap is A Christmas carol by Charles Dickens

The story of sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge and his meetings with the ghosts of Christmas Past, present and of things yet to come.

The tale begins on Christmas Eve in the 1840's, exactly seven years after the death of Scrooge's business partner, Jacob Marley. Scrooge is a greedy and stingy businessman, who has no place in his life for kindness, compassion, charity or benevolence. After being warned by Marley's ghost to change his ways Scrooge is visited by three additional ghosts; each in its turn, accompany him to various scenes with his life in hope of achieving his transformation.
The first of the spirits, the Ghost of Christmas Past, takes Scrooge to the scenes of his boyhood and youth, which stir the old miser's gentle and tender side by reminding him of a time when he was more innocent. The second spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Present, takes Scrooge to several radically differing scenes (a joy-filled market of people buying the makings of Christmas dinner, the family feast of Scrooge's near-impoverished clerk Bob Cratchit, in order to evince from the miser a sense of responsibility for his fellow man. The third spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, harrows Scrooge with dire visions of the future if he does not learn and act upon what he has witnessed. Scrooge's own neglected and untended grave is revealed, prompting the miser to aver that he will change his ways in hopes of changing these "shadows of what may be".
Scrooge awakens Christmas morning with joy and love in his heart, then spends the day with his nephew's family after anonymously sending a prize turkey to the Cratchit home for Christmas dinner. Scrooge has become a different man overnight, and now treats his fellow men with kindness, generosity and compassion, gaining a reputation as a man who embodies the spirit of Christmas.

Just so you know

Just a reminder for all our new swappers this month.

Here are the rules of the swap and some general do and don't.

1.Please, send out your ATC before 15th of the month. If you know you are going to be late getting your ATC to your partner PLEASE email them to let them know...

2. If you sign up to swap and then something happens and you can't follow through please email me at blissfullatcswap@gmail.com and your partner to tell them. I will find them a new partner... There is nothing more disappointing than sending out an ATC and then NOT getting one back.

If you sign up and then don't get in contact with me and your partner and do not send an ATC . Your name will be taken off the list and you will not be able to swap again with us.

3. The swap is only open to USA and Canadian based participants. Sorry, maybe later we will open it to wider areas.

4. The ATC must be 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches (regulation ATC size)

5. The ATCs must be sent in an envelope with the correct postage.
You may consider using a padded envelope if the ATC is thick or has embellishments on it.

6. You can use any media to create your ATC unless specified in that month's theme.

7. Please, make sure your ATC is sturdy enough to withstand posting, ATC holders or clear plastic covers can be used.

8.Remember to post the ATC you receive and yours on your blog for everyone to admire!

9. Email two week before the end of the month to be included in the following month' swap. when I received your email I will add your name to that months list..
The list is situated on the side bar of the blog . If you don't see your name there. Please email me again. I post the partners on the 1st of each moth

10. Become a follower of the blissfull ATC swap blog so you can see updates and news and reminders.

A new Blissfull ATC swap button

Theme for september .. Industrial

I know you are thinking what the heck do I do for this theme.... but look at the background on the blog. Industrial ..big tall buildings, cities,  factories with tall towers with long stream plumes ... engines and wheels...

Lowry is famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial district of northern England  during the early 20th century. He had a distinctive style of painting and is best known for urban landscapes peopled with human figures often referred to as "matchstick men".

Show and tell ..... A Food themed ATC

Did you have as much fun doing your food ATC as I did..... I have my ATC from Sonya to share

Also Sonya a confession......... I make the Chocolate Eclair cake OH my!!!! YUMMY....I ate quite alot of this cake/ pudding and it did taste just like an eclair.... and so easy..

I will be bringing in to all the pot luck supper I go to from now on... so thank you for the wonderful ATC and the recipe cards.... I love it when friends share their recipes.... I have collected a lot over the years... My grandad's egg custart, my mom's date and walnut loaf and my friend Sheli's chicken curry... and now Sonya's Chooclate eclair cake...

I'm sharing my ATC ... when I think of food I'm drawn to my favorite Cake , fairy cake as we call them in England....

My Nanna would make cupcakes but she didn't called them that but butterfly cakes because she would cut out a small peice from each cake and them after piping butter cream in the holes she would cut the sponge into two butterfly wings and then dust with icing sugar... still to this day I can remember them sitting on a plate on the tea table....YUM!

I'm off to have some cake and a cup of tea... Hugs Wendy

Theme for August........ FOOD

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD
Is it worth the waiting for?
If we live 'til eighty-four
All we ever get is gru...el!
Ev'ry day we say our prayer --
Will they change the bill of fare?
Still we get the same old gru...el!
There's not a crust, not a crumb can we find,
Can we beg, can we borrow, or cadge,
But there's nothing to stop us from getting a thrill
When we all close our eyes and imag...ine
Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys!
What next is the question.
Rich gentlemen have it, boys:
In-di-gestion!

 Food, glorious food!
We're anxious to try it.
Three banquets a day --
Our favourite diet!
Just picture a great big steak --
Fried, roasted or stewed.
Oh, food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Glorious food.
